This software is John A Fotheringham 1997

Version 1.0 of AscToTab is free. Later versions (if there are any) may be
offered as shareware for anything up to $10.

Notes on the release 1.0 of AscToTab
====================================

Thank you for downloading the AscToTab conversion software. AscToTab will
convert a plain text file containing a table into a fully-fledged HTML
table. We've included a sample file tab1.txt to show you what we mean.

Note, AscToTab does not (yet?) accept comma-separated or Tab-separarted lists
as exported from excel. There are a few existing tools that do this.

AscToTab has evolved out of ongoing development of the more general convesrion
utility AscToHTM. AscToTab technology will shortly be added to AscToHTM.
AscToHTM is offered as shareware under Windows, and freeware under OpenVMS.

Locating AscToTab on the Web

Installing the software
-----------------------

Simply unzip the zip file. If you're reading this, you've done that
already :)

Running the software
--------------------

See the doco for more details. It will depend on your operating system

Postcardware
------------
This software is offered as postcardware. This is like freeware, except
that if you continue to use the software, you should pay for it by sending
me a postcard (it doesn't have to say anything). Postcards should be sent to

	John A Fotheringham
	c/o Yezerski Roper
	Applicon House
	Exchange Street
	Stockport
	SK3 0ET
	UK

Anyone who really wants to can send cash to the same address :)

Contacts
--------
Any problems or feedback should be mailed to jaf@yrl.co.uk. I'm
reasonably open to bug reports and suggested improvements.

Once again, thanks for looking
